About Us
Ilovani was founded by Neil & Lisa Murray in 1996, since then Ilovani has been creating distinctive furniture from our workshop on The Murray's scenic farm behind The Old Heath, just off the N2 National Highway in Plettenberg Bay.
While much has changed over the years, our roots remain firmly planted in this beautiful setting where our journey began.
After teaming with Lisa Murray in 2011, Claire O'Grady is now the owner and designer at Ilovani.
From a young age immersed in her father's woodworking workshop, Claire has always been a maker, beginning with turning egg cups and candlesticks at age 10 and evolving through various creative ventures including ceramics, photography, knitting, leatherwork, t-shirt printing, bronze mold making and casting, and metalwork. She opened her first shop at 20 and later launched several others, most notably Amoeba Concepts in Parkhurst, where she developed a distinctive range of laser-cut decor and collaborated with local crafters. Her public art includes large-scale metal sculptures commissioned by the City of Johannesburg. After nearly a decade in the city, she returned to a quieter life on the Garden Route, where a chance encounter led to her current role as owner and designer at Ilovani, producing a diverse range of laser-cut decor, furniture, and sculpture.
Today, Ilovani proudly employ's six skilled individuals across our workshop and showroom. Many of our team members have grown with us, learning their craft on the job and developing into highly skilled artisans in their respective roles.
At Ilovani, we craft furniture and homeware using two primary materials. One of our signature ranges is made from reclaimed wine barrels wood that, despite its second life, demands hours of grinding, sanding, and shaping to achieve its elegant finish. We also work with new planked wood, including American and French oak chosen for its stability as well as Cape Blackwood, which we source locally.
We invite you to explore our collection and discover the craftsmanship and care that go into every piece.
